A generation is coming to a close and this month hints strongly of that. Other than Animal Crossing (which is on a next-gen handheld anyway), there isn’t a whole lot to get excited about.
On to the releases:
Week of June 4th
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition – Well, nothing great is coming out this month, why not release Skyrim again?
Minecraft
Remember Me

The Last of Us…but only after reading some trusted reviewers.

I know it’s just one data point, but I see Phil K gave it a 7.5. The game sounds good, but suffers from the “too many bad guys to shoot” problem a lot of narratively driven games face.
Nat says
Phil has a tendency to review (actually “score”–although in Polygon scoring is a team agreed effort) like this and then make a big deal about score complainers. This has happened a couple of times. I honestly think he’s attracted more to niche stuff than mainstream.
He’s a reviewer I trust (and I thought his review was good. I’m glad he expects more of AAA teams) but there are some others who have scored it higher. If he’s the only one out there with it this low, then my thoughts about it are valid.
Tony says
Totally agree. It felt like his review didn’t match up with the final score, he review felt like an “8”. It’s amazing the difference between a 7.X and 8 even though 7.X still should be regarded as a “pretty good game”/\.

Well, I’m playing the Spy Party beta (woo) and a few other PC games. I’ve got SMTIV, Last Of Us and Animal Crossing preordered though. And then the summer doldrums roll in and I can actually clear a chunk of my backlog, I hope!
I am interested in the Deadpool game but it’s a rental. Same with Remember Me. May as well enjoy the rental scene while we can 🙂
Tony says
Spy Party looks cool. Maybe I can squeeze that in when it actually drops.

It’s $15 right now to get access to the beta and final copy. I played for an hour or so last night and had a blast. It’s like the MP of the last few Assassin’s Creed games squeezed down into one small room. And it is glorious.
I’m not big into multiplayer but something like this that is all about subtlety and trickery rather than shooty-bangs is amazing.
