Weekend Gaming and What I’m Playing

So after finishing Mass Effect 2, I felt liberated and wanted to get to some new games. Funny thing is, I really wanted to get back to Borderlands. So I talked a couple friends into trying out the game themselves and the three of us have been running around Pandora at least once a week. I started a new character (Lilith) and am really liking this play through. I still mess around with Mordecai, but playing with friends is infinitely better.

I also started a couple online dynasties in NCAA 11, again with a different friend. I have a lot to say about NCAA 11, but for now I’ll just say I love all the additions to this iteration and the online dynasty tools are really, really cool.

Gamefly finally sent me Crackdown 2 and I’ve spent a few hours back in Pacific City. It feels distantly familiar but ultimately hollow. It is still fun to collect orbs and cause mayhem but I don’t know how much more I’ll be playing.

At a recent Gamestop Sale I picked up copies of Metro 2033 and Final Fantasy XIII. James is currently playing FFXIII, so along with Borderlands, I also started 2033. I’m only about an hour and half in, so I don’t really have an opinion yet.

I’m ashamed to admit I still haven’t played Blur, even though I picked it up weeks ago.

So I have quite a bit on my plate. That’s not counting how badly I am resisting Starcraft 2. What will you be playing this weekend?

In My Hands

Saw that Best Buy had Blur going for forty bucks and that Activision was offering twenty bucks off and I couldn’t pass up a good deal.

Blur Impressions [beta]

The Blur beta started today on the 360, and yours truly was able to score a code. Let me say this: Think Burnout Paradise + licensed cars + Mario Kart – annoying powerup randomness + the leveling mechanic of Call of Duty = the best online racing experience I’ve ever had. I knew this just fifteen minutes in. Each race is about 5 minutes long and is intense, pretty, and wonderful throughout the entire course. If they make no major changes in the negative, this is a must buy. Now to get it on PS3 or 360?

More Blur Goodness

Earlier today, I mentioned that Bizarre Creations is going crazy giving away beta keys to many websites for their new game, Blur. Let me be a little more descriptive about the game. Think Call of Duty 4 meets Project Gotham Racing meets Burnout Paradise.

Yes, you race for experience and go up in rank. As you get higher, you can unlock powerups and mods for your cars. Giantbomb has got a great video up with one of the games designers. I really love the look of this game. There is so much more mentioned in the video.

The beta opens March 8. It’s for the 360, but I think I’ll pick up the PS3 version.

Note: The Giant Bomb video doesn’t embed into our RSS. (Geesh). Those of you RSS readers need to head on over to the site for a look. Come on in to our house and stop looking through the windows. It’s creepy.

Get in the Blur Beta [360]

The fine folks at 4 color rebellion are handing out beta keys for the Bizarre Creations Game, Blur. These guys made the Project Gotham Racing series and Geometry Wars. Hits in my book. blur looks extreme. Right now they have 50 keys posted and have a ton more to hand out. Are you in? I am.
