Xbox 360 on the Big Screen

August 14, 2008 by Tony 2 Comments

Ever want to play your 360 on a HUGE screen, say, one as big as a theater screen? Now you can (via Global Nerdy). (If you live in Canada and near a Cineplex):

Beginning on Friday, gamers will be able to book two-hour sessions at 29 Cineplex theatres across the country for $179 plus taxes. Up to 12 people will be allowed into the session to play their own games, or those from a supplied library, on the theatre’s giant screen with surround sound. The Xbox 360, however, can only accommodate four players at a time.

Why just the 360?

Nintendo Lunchbox

No, not a retro lunchbox like this one. An actual Nintendo Entertainment System lunch box.

Summer Vacation

August 11, 2008 by Tony Leave a Comment

Things may get busy around here this week, as I’m cleaning out some of my old drafts, posting things I should have posted weeks (months [years]) ago. Me procrastinate? Never!

Things were slow around these parts last week as I was deathly ill last week after a bad Burger King Croissan’wich (don’t ask) and then I was busy with the kids. Things at work are crazy busy this week and I’m going on vacation next week. So I want to get out out some posts and possibly have a something queued up for posts while I’m gone. You’ll still be in the capable hands of Nat while I’m gone, and there may be a robo-post in there, but I won’t be around much next week.

The wife and I are taking a trip to the Big Apple. It’s my first trip to the New York City, I’m pretty excited.

Nintendo is almost the most fun a kid can have

You can hear it straight from Bill O’Reilly’s mouth (h/t TheLeetGeeks):

Bowser’s Minions Revolt

See more funny videos and funny pictures at CollegeHumor.

A little foul-mouthed in places (but not really, I just feel obligated to say that), but the payoff is worth it. You can watch the full-sized version here.

(I just noticed this is post 1,001. Nat’s Geometry Wars 2 post was our 1,000th post. Woohoo!)

And life goes on…

July 13, 2008 by Tony 1 Comment

I’m back from the weekend of funeral services and family gatherings. Tears were shed, hugs given and received, and final goodbyes said. Now the ship has righted itself and things are pretty much back to normal.

Even under the circumstances, it was nice to see family and friends. I come from a pretty tight-knit family as it is, but it was still nice to see people that I don’t normally see regularly. It was also nice to travel back to where my grandparents grew up and my dad lived for a while (Brownsville, PA) and to hear some family stories from my dad. It has been a great experience overall.

Thanks for all the condolences expressed personally and publicly. They are all appreciated.

Things should be back to normal around these parts now. I have a bunch of items in the hopper, along with a couple of weeks where I will be family-free, as my wife takes the kids on an extended trip without me. I’ll be sad to see them go but happy about the free-time laid out before me.

It’s going to be an extravaganza around here.

Camp Fatal1ty!

June 18, 2008 by Tony Leave a Comment

Do you know who Fatal1ty is? If not, read up here before continuing.

Now, if the first thing you thought, after reading the Wikipedia article linked above, was “I sure wish I could take lessons from someone like that,” then you are IN LUCK. (If you thought, “man, he sure uses a lot of commas,” welcome to the Club)

For a mere $3500, you can go to Camp Fatal1ty and learn things such as “Unreal Tournament tactics and strategies developed by Fatal1ty and other professional gamers.” Then you can go swimming at the lake and learn life lessons around the campfire. (Okay, I added that last part). Something about summer camps for video games rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it’s the Boy Scout in me, but summer camp was for building fires and sleeping under the stars. Not learning how to play Unreal Tournament and making machinima.

But I guess I can’t knock these guys for trying something new. In fact, I would imagine the 13 year-old me would totally love to go to a camp like this. Maybe they’re on to something!

Camp I ain’t Yer Pa isn’t far behind!
