Where is the Video Game Capital of America? Seattle? Austin? San Jose? Nope. Salt Lake City. According to the Salt Lake Tribune:
It’s called gamer’s thumb, and families in Salt Lake City could be among the nation’s most afflicted: the city has been named No. 1 in the number of households owning video game systems.
The least? People living in Florida’s coastal areas. Makes sense — go to the beach or play Halo 2? No a tough decision there.
Funny how time creeps up on you. The Carnival of Gamers #22 is right around the corner. Seems like it was just yesterday we were picking up the trash from the last one! The Carnival is heading to Brent’s place at Virgin Worlds this month. The Super Mario theme is one of my favorites. Here’s a rendition of the theme by a guy beat-boxing and playing the flute. (via kottke). That would make a great (and equally annoying) ring tone.
Everyone’s favorite gaming-grandma, Old Grandma Hardcore, was on the first page of the Life section in Thursday’s Columbus Dispatch (registration might be required). It’s a fun read if you’ve never heard of OGHC, but if you have, it’s good to see that Grandma is still gaming like a champ.
Rock on, Grandma.
EA has said that Mercenaries 2 will be released on the Xbox 360 (and the PC and PS2) along with the Playstation 3. So says Evil Avatar. Initially, this was going to be a PS3 exclusive but now that doesn’t look to be the case. Thank goodness for that.
If they can do Live co-op this could be one of the best games out there. Mercenaries was such a blast, I can’t wait for the sequel.

Personally, I’d like to go to somewhere real, like Machu Picchu. But that’s just me.
