Blogging updates (and what we’re playing)

October 9, 2007 by Tony 13 Comments

Just a quick note that I’m currently in the process of upgrading all the blogs I maintain and host for friends, so things around here may get goofy, but I think it should be pretty painless.

If you run a WordPress blog, I cannot sing enough praise for the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plug-in. Instead of manually downloading the new files, unzipping them and FTP’ing them to my server, this plug-in handles it all. This is very, very cool.

I know we’ve been a little lax in the blogging department around these parts, but with Halo 3 dropping on us and everything else going on, we’ve been busy. Busy playing games, that is. This is not necessarily a bad thing. For me personally, I’ve been spending a little more time back in Norrath with Everquest 2. I joined a guild, but haven’t done a ton with them yet. I’ve mostly been working on my tradeskills. That’s always fun, especially if you like mindless button clicking. We’ve been enjoying Halo 3 a bunch around these parts, co-op’ing and multiplaying whenever we can. There are a bunch of good games on the horizon. I think the Orange Box and Puzzle Quest are in my near future.

What about you guys and gals? What are you playing?

And I promised myself I would not fall into this trap again this season:

    • Final Fantasy Tactics (PSP)(tomorrow!)
    • Jeanne D’Arc (PSP)
    • Halo 3 (duh)
    • Stuntman: Ignition (360)
    • Cars (360)
    • Metroid Prime 3 (Wii)
    • MLB Power Pros (Wii)
    • Killzone: Liberation (PSP)
    • Orange Box (PC)

Mario Galaxy is all I have left. I love Winter only for the fact I’m indoors. Bring it on.

oh goodness. What am I playing?

    Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
    Half-Life 2
GTA: San Andreas (borrowing from a friend to see what the big deal is)
ELITE BEAT AGENTS!!!!! (I <3 this game. I started playing it again, blasted through cruisin, and am working on sweatin)

Games I need to get back to (or get)
    Area 51
    Black
Guild Wars (Don’t have it, want it)
LoZ:TP (don’t make fun of me cause I still haven’t beat it! I stopped playing back in Feb, and haven’t gotten back to it)
LoZ: Phantom Hourglass (got like 1 hour into it, then I started playing EBA again)
Metroid Prime 3 (Same deal with LoZ, I went on vacation, and haven’t gotten back to it since, mostly because i picked up an old Xbox (1) for $40

Yeah. Good time to game! In addition, I want the orange box, but probably wont get it for a while. as you can see, I have quite a lot on my plate right now. With Ghost Squad, RE: Umbrella Chronicles, Mario Galaxy, SSBB (Sonic was announced as a playable character today, and online co-op) AND GHIII all on the way.

Put it this way, if NO games came out ALL of 08, I still wouldn’t get bored.

PS: I help write stories over at Wiinintendo.net, which uses word press. How can we get an RSS feed for the comments?

Perhaps surprisingly, I’ve done very little electronic gaming over the past week or so. I puttered around the Hellgate: London beta, played a little bit of Guild Wars over the weekend, and usually take about 10 minutes a day to play Animal Crossing because I want something quick… Apart from from that — not much. I do play a fortnightly D&D game, which usually runs between 4 – 6 hours per session, though.

@Nat – Holy smokes, that’s a stacked list! If there was a Wii under my TV, I would be in complete heaven.

@JP – After listening to the 1UP Yours podcast and your comment, I am so stoked about Portal. It will definitely be the first thing I play when I tear open my Orange Box.

@FS – Okay, man, you’ve got us all beat. Good luck with that list!

As far as a comments RSS feed, you already have one automatically with WordPress. Your regular feed would be:

    http://wiinintendo.net/feed

and the comments feed would be

    http://wiinintendo.net/comments/feed

@Brin – How is Hellgate? Is it Diablo 3?

Sounds like your D&D simply replaced a need for video gaming. Playing with real people always wins.

Ok, my friend got rid of his Xbox (1) so add Hitman Blood money, Destroy All humans, and Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil to that list.

BTW, I’m not at ALL impressed with San Andreas. It seems like a whole bunch of black people running around swearing, interrupted by you beating the crap out of someone with a baseball bat.

Thanks for the RSS tip. I’ll be sure to let the admin know that he needs to add a link to that in addition to the main page feed.

Oh yeah, I forgot, my friend has Halo 3, He’s hosting a LAN party too. So (sorta) add that to the list.

I can’t draw any comparisons myself because I haven’t played Diablo, but I am told, by people who have played Diablo, that HGL is very Diablo-esque. 🙂

Been playing Metroid Prime 3 – and I ‘m 2 power cells away from getting them all. Lots of backtracking right now, but always think it is kind neat to go back to levels that before took you hours to explore and plow through them in no time at all.

If anyone else is playing and wants to exchange Wii codes so I can get a bobble head that would be cool.

Also been playing Jeanne D’Arc … quite a nice srpg

    @FS – glad I could help.

@Brin – If you ever get bored with GW, I highly recommend Diablo 2. It’s not the same type of game, but is very fun.

@Jeremiah – Figures! I’m gonna be gone this weekend and unable to get some Halo 3 with you. Maybe you’ll be on tonight?

@Seth – Backtracking in many games (Metroid included) never bothered me, much for the same reasons you mention. It’s fun going back to places bigger and stronger.

My fellow blogger Nat is big on Jeanne D’Arc. I need me a PSP!
