Weekend Gaming

August 27, 2010 by Tony 7 Comments

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these, but now would be a great time to break your “lurker” status and come out of the wirework and let us know what you’ll be playing this weekend.

I like to refer to this weekend as my “most productive weekend ever” because it’s the last weekend before college football starts, which basically means my Saturdays are booked until December. I have to cross off a bunch of my to-do items so I’ll be ready when the madness starts next week. It also means my blogging slows here a little during this time. I’m hoping this will give me some time to work on some of the reviews I’ve wanted to write.

In the meantime, though, I still plan on gaming some this weekend. I’ve been working through Dragon Quest IX on the DS and enjoying my first foray into Dragon Quest since Dragon Warrior on the NES. Along with DQIX, I’ve been playing through Metro 2033. This game is maddeningly frustrating. I am really enjoying some of the unique things they’re doing with this game while I’m struggling through their sadistic checkpoints and unhelpful feedback. I’m this close to switching to “Easy” so I can make it through a particularly rough section. But overall Metro 2033 is really close to being a great game. Right now, I’d consider it a flawed game.

If I have time, I want to fool around with Steam on my Macbook, but we’ll see. What will you be playing?

Well lets see. I beat Bioshock 2. Ending is not as epic as the first one and then I think I’ll be playing some Runes of Magic and maybe some GMod.

Dead Rising 2 is coming out next month ๐Ÿ˜€ Going to Pre-Order that beast! Before anyone asks going to get it for PC.

I don’t even know what to think about DR2 on the PC. That just feels wrong.

What did you do with the little sisters in BS2? I really enjoyed that game.

Feels wrong? Bah! It’s going to be the best system to play on! ๐Ÿ˜‰
I saved them all. I do have kids you know. ๐Ÿ˜› Was there a different ending if you killed them?

Yeah, depending on if you saved them all, saved one or harvested all of them you got a different ending. Same thing with the first game.

Wow. You haven’t played any DQ since the original Dragon Warrior on the NES? You’ve been missing out!

I’m basically working on the tail end of Final Fantasy 13 and grinding away at DQIX. I’m hoping to hit Fan Expo in Toronto and get maps and such, since nerd gatherings are about the only places I can fathom being able to use the tag mode for the game.

I’ll probably tinker a bit with Mafia 2 as well. I love Steam ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, I pretty much missed the DQ wagon. I did play a few JRPGs on my SNES but that was limited to Final Fantasy.
