Today, during the Super Mario Galaxy show (for the munchkins), I defeated Bowser for the seven hundredth time in my life, saving the Princess yet again (from herself). I haven’t “finished” SMG yet, as there are plenty of stars still to be had, but the Princess is safe, at least for the time being. I plan on heading back to get the rest of the stars. I had found 70 before I saved her highness.
Super Mario Galaxy, as frustrating as it can get every so often, is a great game.
But that’s not the point of this post. I have really enjoyed the new power-ups added to this iteration of Mario. Besides the Fire Flower and 1-UP mushrooms, there are a bunch of new power-ups for Mario. So I want to know: What is your favorite Mario power-up? (from any game).
I really like the new Spring power-up in Super Mario Galaxy. In fact, I think it’s my favorite power-up mushroom of all time.

Spring Mario is the most annoying Mario form ever! It’s incredibly frustrating!
I like the cape/feather from SMW. It’s like the leaf/racoon suit from SMB3, but better!
C’mon now; we all know that Kuribo’s Shoe is the greatest ever, though the Tanooki Suit also rocked.
@mgroves – You didn’t like the Spring? It can be frustrating, but I think that’s what I liked about it the most. It was so unpredictable.
@Jeff – Yeah, the Shoe was pretty awesome, but underrated and underutilized!
i loved the mega mushroom and blue shell in new super mario brothers, i mean, you get to smash everything on the level(pipes,blocks etc.)and knock out enemies by sliding into them without using a hill! it was the best power upps of all time
@liam – thanks for the comment. The mega mushroom is definitely fun, but it’s too rare for my liking. I want more more more!
I also agree. The Mega Mushroom and Blue shell are Too rare for my liking. if you beat the final boss, go to an item house. as soon as you can move, Run, jump, and hit the far corner as fast as you can. if done as fast as possible(w/out A.R.), you should get a blue shell. Plus, You cant do this before beating the final boss. i tried.(ps my fav. powerup is flight mario in galaxy. too bad you can only use it in the observatory.)
the froggy suit mario was fun as hell too! i believe that was from super mario 3
