It’s been a while since I’ve had the time to post something on the site. What better game than Skyrim to bring me back?
If you haven’t heard, Skyrim is releasing on 11.11.11, which puts it about 12 days out but, who’s counting?
I wanted to get a pulse on how many of you readers are:
A. Planning on getting Skyrim – whether its a pre-order, day 1 purchase, or waiting for it to go cheap on a steam sale.
– I have a pre-order thanks to my brother’s superb trading skills in Team Fortress 2 (TF2).
B. Which system? 360, PS3, PC?
– I will be enjoying Skyrim on the PC (where it was born), that is, if my computer doesn’t melt from the sheer awesomeness of the game of from it’s PC requirements.
C. What class/race combination are you thinking?
– In most fantasy games I play, I tend to lean towards the ranger/archer/sharpshooter classes. I feel like Skyrim seems to have archery down as a valid means of dealing death, which has not been the case in the other games I’ve played. I don’t mind being a human or an elf, whichever looks cooler wins out in my book.
D. Have you played any of the other Elder Scroll games?
– I began with Daggerfall (PC), dabbled in Morrowind(PC), and only slightly played some Oblivion(PC).
Nat says
No.
Brock says
A) I’m getting Skyrim, but I’m waiting for either a GOTY or, at the very least, until I’ve finished up The Witcher and FO: New Vegas.
B) PC. I’ve upgraded my PC for almost every Elder Scrolls game I’ve purchased (Daggerfall, Morrowind & Oblivion both necessitated system rebuilds). The sad thing is that my current rig could run Skyrim with its eyes closed and barely skip a beat, but I’m not getting it right away 🙂
C) I have no idea. Something with magic.
D) See above. The sad thing is that even though I’ve purchased every other game in the series (except Arena) and rebuilt my computers to play them, I’ve never spent more than about 15 hours with a game. Oblivion just never sunk its teeth into me the way I wanted it to. I loved the world of Morrowind though, but now I’ll have to find the texture pack to make it look really nice. Fallout 3 was the first First Person RPG that really got me hooked and NOW I think I’ll appreciate what the genre has, but there was always something about the size of the worlds and lack of direction that never really clicked with me prior to FO3.

@Nat No interest? Not your kinda game?
@Brock Daggerfall was where I spent most of my time. The sheer size of the world was an eye opening experience for a young boy.
The balance between a lack of direction and a super linear storyline is a tight rope walk if you ask me. Let’s hope they get it right
@All Anyone play battlespire besides my brother and I? It was a travesty.
Woolfman says
Pre-Ordered for PC and Dark Elf Mage (Necro. if I can help it) Yeah I played all the Elder Scrolls but Morrowind. (I was in Brazil.) Oblivion was epic with mods. I played that so much I was the Hero of everything 😉
Tony says
I’ll be getting it Day One, on the 360 (looks like I’m alone on that one. Shame all you guys will be missing out on the best version).
Not sure what race/class I’ll go with. I also like the archery/ranged classes in RPGs but I think I might go brute strength with this one.
