It’s Diablo III Eve!

May 14, 2012 by Tony 6 Comments

Yes, unfortunately for us East-coasters, the game won’t be available until 3 AM. That probably means I won’t be playing as soon as it becomes available, but I will be setting my alarm a little earlier than normal to get a few minutes with the game before Real Life encroaches and makes me go to work. But I do plan on spending some quality time with the game come tomorrow evening.

I’d love to get a group of fellow buttonmashers together to for that first night of adventuring. I think I’ll be starting out playing the Demon Hunter. You?

Weekend Gaming

May 4, 2012 by Tony Leave a Comment

So we’ve only got two weeks until Diablo III assumes control of all weekend gaming for the next few months (years? decades?). So now is the time to get in the gaming before everything becomes overwhelmed by the flood of Diablo III goodness.

So for me, that will be playing as much Mass Effect 3 as I can squeeze in. I’ve turned a buddy on to the multiplayer aspect, so I expect we’ll be doing a lot of that (gotta buy those Premium Spectre Packs!). Why don’t you join us?

What will you be playing this weekend?

May Releases

May 4, 2012 by Tony 1 Comment

It’s time for a new look for the monthly releases. If you haven’t been to the site proper lately, I have installed a new “professional” looking theme that is currently under construction but it has given me much more flexibility with making things look sharper. So this month’s list of releases will have a different, new look and feel. I’ll be tweaking the site design as I have more time to work on it, but for now this is a bare bones look at the future of the site.

Not a ton of releases this except, oh I don’t know, the 800 POUND GORILLA in the room. Oh Diablo III… Have mercy on our souls…

They Played Diablo III…

May 3, 2012 by Tony Leave a Comment

From Yannick LeJacq at Kill Screen:

Horror is often an art of framing, so it’s hard to scare a viewer from the bird’s eye perspective of Diablo. The original did this with the flat nihilism of its atmosphere—the world was a bleak vision of black and gray, given the luminous color of life only briefly and terribly when blood was split. Killing yet another round of grotesque and bilious undead, my mind started to wander. Were these bloated and farting corpses really that evil? This was more like Shawn of the Dead than 28 Days Later. Then, I heard a noise.

I can’t wait to hear that noise.

Read the whole thing.

Weekend Gaming

April 13, 2012 by Tony Leave a Comment

As quickly as the last one ended, the weekend is upon us once again! It’s time to get in some gaming!

Me personally, I have Mass Effect 3 mulitplayer on the brain. I think a large portion of my time this weekend will be spent playing that. If there’s time to get back to the single player game, that’s where I’ll be. But as much fun as I’ve been having with the multiplayer, I don’t see there being much extra time. If I get some PC time, it will probably be spent playing Vindictus or Atlantica. And possibly checking out Dragon’s Nest. But it will most likely be Mass Effect 3.

Which brings me to a moment of reflection, a confession if you will. Up to this point, I have never paid “real money” for in-game items I can “earn” through regular playing. I get the idea of microtransactions in online games (and actually welcome them) but I have always limited my purchases to things that couldn’t be gotten through normal play of the game. Things like extra character slots, extra storage space and the like. But the ME3 “booster packs” have their hooks into me big time and it’s real tempting to drop some Microsoft Space Bucks on that Premium Spectre Pack instead of putting in the time to earn those 99,000 credits.

REAL tempting.

So I’ll br trying to resist the temptation of instant gratification. What will you be playing?

In My Hands

March 27, 2012 by Tony 6 Comments

It’s actually been “in my hands” since last Thursday, but real life conspired against me and the first real time I’ve had with Mass Effect 3 was last night. Looking forward to getting back to it tonight!
