Remember this flash-based game? My wish was that it would come out for the DS. However, almost a year later it was bought by EA and brought to the iPod/iPhone. At $2.99 for the first 5 acts (30 levels), it’s wonderful. I now have my Thanksgiving travel game. It’s only a $3 for another 90 levels. I will probably be getting those as well.
The Circle Is Now Complete
Super Mario Kart is finally being released on the Virtual Console today. My life is now complete. I can now rest in peace. I won’t be among real people for a while.
In [Nat’s] Hands: New Super Mario Bros. Wii & Assassin’s Creed II
One game is a Christmas gift so I may not get to play it until then (and has absolutely the worst name Nintendo has ever come up with) and the other is the only game I anticipated this year.

Oh, and Star Trek on Blu-Ray. This will be a first viewing for the missus. I wonder what her take on it will be.
Curse You, Steam!
Valve got me to spend ~$30 today with their weekend deal and another surprise discount. You can get the Crysis games for 50% off (I got the first one) and the entire Overlord collection at 75% off—including the newly released this year sequel—for $10. Ten! Overlord is one of my surprise games I’ve found in recent years to be completely underrated. It’s also evil that Steam stores your credit card info now.
Out of Nowhere Comes Excitebike: World Rally
After only one hour play the out of nowhere release of Excitebike: World Rally may be the Game of the Glut(TM) for the season. Nintendo was able to retain the simplistic gameplay and feel of the original while adding a few twists.
- You can play using the controller in Classic mode or Normal. Normal lets you tilt the remote to tilt the bike knowing that reaper bars are the lightest. Getting back on the bike quicker after a crash is done by waggling in both modes.
- You can pop a wheelie just before hitting someone and youll not crash.
- Cutting off another rider cools down your bike from overheating instantly. That new touch should prove for an interesting strategy.
- The camera can be isometric or sideways.
- There are letter rankings now on tracks just like in ExciteTruck and ExciteBots
- Unlockables.
- You can still create your own tracks and now share them via friendcodes (bleh!).
- 4-player online racing via friendcodes (bleh, again!)
- Its $10.
I now have this crazy urge to get an S rating in all the tracks (set in various world locationshence the name, World Rally)
God of War III Will Be Epic. Yeah. Epic.
I’ve posted some video before of the GoW remakes that are coming next month. However, the demo for the third game is starting to make the rounds. Destructoid has played and recorded the entire 20 minute demo for your pleasure. I cannot believe I sat through this. The ending was stellar.
God of War Re-mastered for Your Enjoyment
I just finished my first God of War game on the PSP, and I had a blast. I missed the PS2 versions a few years back. Well, it appears that both games have been given the HD treatment and will sell on one disc next month for $40. Hmm. Anyway, this looks magnificent. Click through for the video.
The Last Stand? Yes, Please.
The Last Stand update for Dawn of War II was released yesterday…and it is a breath of fresh air. After three hours of play, I claim it to be gaming goodness. FREE gaming goodness. Let me know if you have the game in the comments and we can survive a few rounds. Relic has really taken this game to a new level. Mixing Call of Duty with DoW II was an excellent idea. It’s a shame some people missed this, but Steam was selling the game half-off yesterday Holy frick. I just checked. They’ve extended it until Monday. $20 (TWENTY!) for this amazing game.
Left 4 Dead Leaves No One Behind
I know I’m late to the game, but I’ve got to say that the L4D community is one of the best around. I’ve played quite a few online random games, and every one of them has been a pure treat. I don’t think I can get that with some “other” FPS-based games. Of course, the need to survive brings a lot of people together.
On Why I Loathe Mario Kart Wii
Sailing along in first place and leading by almost half a leap on the group. The finish line is in site. Maybe a game distance of 20 feet. Blue shell. Red shell. Red shell. Green. Green. Red. Red. Hello 9th place. What just happened?
Poor balancing, that’s what.
I’ve never completed Mario Kart Wii. I don’t have the patience to do so. It has the most playtime of any of our Wii games at home (over 200 hours), but it’s not a game to play for serious players. It is a fun game, but it has this wonderful knack for not rewarding skill.
I don’t mind the powerups. I do mind that there is no counters for some or even a remote chance for others. Do the powerups add any strategy to the game? Not one bit. Some people may argue that, but it’s just too random. To random for this gamer to enjoy. I’ll stick with my DS and SNES versions.
As a side note, does anyone else’s Wii put slight scratch marks around the outer edge of their games–especially ones they play a lot? We’ve gone through one Excite Truck disk and our Mario Kart copy has been giving read errors lately.
