I’m so proud! This week has seen the birth of another blog-son of mine, the Conservative Buckeye. Run by long-time buttonmashing.com reader Jeremiah, the Conservative Buckeye is a mish-mash of TV culture, food and restaurant reviews, Ohio State football, and a little politics on the side. Stop on over and say hi!
Jeremiah is my second blog-child. My first, who I think I’ve mentioned before, is run by my buddy James, aka Rightank, at Rightank.com, another conservative blog with a judicial/political slant (he is a lawyer, afterall).
I know my readership is from all colors and stripes of the political spectrum so I don’t expect everyone to agree with my friends. While I keep my political leanings close to the vest here, I am firm in my beliefs. All I say is have an open mind.

Things may look wonky here for a bit, currently upgrading to WordPress 2.0 and messing with some plug-ins. Things should calm down in a bit.
I’d also be much obliged if you left a comment, once everything is working I’ll be deleting this post, but for now, it’d be a big help. Thanks!
Okay, it looks like everything but the Archives and the Tag Cloud seem to be working. I’m putting that on the back burner for now but I’m leaving this post up until tomorrow in case someone notices something amiss.
buttonmashing.com 2.0 -> new and improved!
I wanted to promote a new site a friend of mine is starting. It’s called “binswap” and it’s a little like a cross between eBay and a swap meet. You create a list of items you have (and want to sell/trade) an you create a list of items you want (to buy/trade). You’re matched up when ever someone is looking for something you have or someone lists an item your looking for. Seems pretty straightforward. It also seems like an excellent way to trade in those old video games you have lieing around gathering dust. It’s better than trading them in at the local used video game store, getting a pittance in return.
I’m linking to the site with my “referral tag” here (so I can win that iPod!) but you can click here, unfettered by my referral info. Your choice.
Just give it a looksie. I think it’s a great idea and I hope my friend is sucessful with his new endeavor.
… on showing up as a Yahoo! Daily Pick. (screen shot from My Yahoo!. No, really, it’s my Yahoo! page. It’s mine, all mine!)
I haven’t paid a lot of to podcasting yet. Mostly because I haven’t made time for them. Another factor is that I usually listen to my iPod at work for “background” noise and listening to a podcast would be too distracting. But now I have a reason to start — winning stuff.
I got a note from buttonmashing.com reader, Josh pointing me to one of his favorite podcasts – Insomonia Radio. I haven’t checked any episodes out yet but the one Josh pointed out to me includes a contest to win a PSP. I thought other buttonMashers would be interested in checking it out. They way I see it, I’ll win me a PSP here and get an Xbox 360 for free from Pepsi. I’ll be sitting pretty for the next generation without spending a dime.
If you guys are into the podcasting thing or already listen to Insomnia Radio, let me know what you think.

Things might look wonky for a bit as I tweak my theme. I am growing tired of the current look. I’m looking to spruce things up. I’ll also be installing some new plug-ins over the next couple of days (WordPress is teh truth!). Hopefully I don’t break anything expensive.
“I break, I cry. You break, you buy.”
(For now I’ll be leaving the old theme up. I’ll still be tinkering with it later)

Things don’t look good for Rockstar. GameSpot has confirmed that the “Hot Coffee” content was, in-fact, included on the PS2 disc of GTA:SA.
Cheat unlocks preexisting code in controversy-rocked Grand Theft Auto game, undermining Rockstar Games’ claims of hacker mischief.
This may be the proverbial straw that does in the camel. Rockstar has been wording its presses releases in legalese, making it hard to find a concrete admission or denial. Nevertheless, this is bad news for their case. But how bad is pixelated smut? GameSpot sums it up:
Given that the minigame is about as raunchy as an episode of Sex and the City, cannot be accessed without entering a long string of cheat codes, and takes several hours of effort to access, charges that San Andreas is “pornographic” may seem extreme to some. However, its existence does appear to contradict Rockstar Games’ carefully worded statement blaming hacker mischief for the existence of the Hot Coffee mod.

A couple quick updates: the Carnival of Gamers makes its third stop at Corvus’ Man Bytes Blog. Make sure you head over there for all the info. There may even be a prize for the best entry (crosses fingers it’s me and the prize is a sketch!)
Secondly, I’ve updated the CoG’s HQ with a list of future Carnival stops and a “mini-FAQ” that will hopefully clear up any questions the uninitiated may have. If you have something to add to the FAQ, drop me a line.

(Update:Following the advice from Mike in the comments, I’ve tried to fix my files so the original RSS feed is operable. So far I can’t get bloglines to recognize my change, but hopefully you’ll have better luck
Okay, it turns out I didn’t save the appropriate files I had changed, but now they are all working and everything seems to be better. Thanks for the help, Mike!)
If you use Bloglines (or another RSS feeding machine) you have probably noticed that my Blogger feeds are no longer active. You can subscribe to my feed using:
https://buttonmashing.com/wp-rss2.php
I was previously having issues with WP and the feed, but that adress seems to work. I also updated the feed links in the footer of the first page. If you use Bloglines, you can always use the handy subscribe with Bloglines button:
Seriously, if you’re not using Bloglines, you’re missing out.
