I seem to have an issue with Bloglines and the two Weblogs, Inc. feeds I subscribe to (Joystiq and Engadget). Every item in their feeds is repeated three or four times. Has anyone else who’s subscribed to their feeds notice this? Is it from the ads they insert into th feed? It’s getting a little frustrating. I really enjoy reading both blogs but it’s almost to the point where it’s not worth it.
Is this a Bloglines issue or a feed isssue?

I have been having the same problem with Safari and all my Weblogs Inc Blogs (Joystiq, Engadget, and The Unofficial Apple Weblog). It’s been driving me nuts. However, I’m glad it’s not just me and not just Safari. It must be the feed. Every time they udpate I get the last 20 updates and the stories repeat too, just like they are doing for you.
Crap, I was going to say it’s Bloglines, as Bloglines is having trouble finding half my feeds (including my own) at the moment. Little red exclams everywhere.
I’m not getting any doubleposts with Joystiq, but I am getting the repeated updates…
I’m getting the same thing with all of the Weblogs Inc blogs that I’ve subscribed to. This seemed to have started when they updated their system last week (when they turned the comments off for the weekend). Kind of frustrating to have to dig through 3-4 of the same post over several days.
That problem is somewhat annoying, but it’s not because of Bloglines, it’s because the feed changes slightly and Bloglines detects it as an update. There’s a few blogs on my list that do it, but thankfully it’s easily fixed.
Click edit subscription on the feed, and set the “Updated Items” preference to be “Ignore”
Robin – I thought that might be it but I already had them set to Ignore (learned this the hardway as Joystiq seems to edit their stuff a lot).
Obviously we’ve all come to the conclusion that the problem is with the feed itself. Google Reader has the same problem as Bloglines and the like. Further proving that this isn’t just a single RSS site/program.
Good to know I’m not alone with this. I’ll have to try Robin’s fix, although it sounds like that may not be a perfect fix.
Alice – I’ve been having trouble with your feed, too. I tried subscribing to the feedburner feed but it defaults to your regular feed. Not sure what the fix is for that, other than visiting the page directly.
Hey, it’s a problem on our end which we’re aware of and working very hard to fix. Please accept my apologies — I know it’s frustrating. We switched blogging software a couple of weeks ago and it screwed up our feeds (as well as a few other things).
Everything should be fixed by the end of the week at the latest, though I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll get it together sooner.

Peter – Wow! Engadget for the win! Thanks for taking the time to clear up the confusion. No need to apologize, you guys do a heck of a job on Engadget and I was just mentioning this because I enjoy reading it and the feed issues were detracting from it.

Just something that I noticed. It seems as if they are getting the problem fixed. I’ve not seen as many repeats over the last two days.
