Archives for January 2009

Heavy Rotation

I just picked up the recently released Geometry Wars Track “46860 Choices” from Bizarre’s website and can’t stop listening to it.

If you enjoy the Geometry Wars 2 music (which if you’ve played the game, you do) I can’t recommend it enough.

A Legend Passes

While this may not be gaming related many of us here have a fondness for one of the best villains ever put to film. Ricardo Montalban passed away today.

In respect.

Hulk vs. Wolverine

Movie Trailers – Movies Blog

I’ve been following this movie whenever they show new clips. I thought I would share this one with everybody. It was going to be a rental for me but I might have to actually consider buying it. 😉 There is also a Hulk vs. Thor movie coming out that was more appealing to me but, after this clip I think I’m beginning to be swayed. Wolverine used to be favorite Marvel character until they over used him. I still like him though, don’t get me wrong.

I think my favorite part is when Wolverine learns to fly.

Real Life Mario

That’s a skit only a fanboy could love.

The Beginning of EndWar

Nothing is more satisfying than talking to units in a game and getting so lost in it that you think you are playing with actual people.

Developers, put this tech in more games, please.

The live, online campaign is amazing as well. The polish here is outstanding. This might be one of my first hidden gems of the year.

Best game no one played indeed.

I Love Criterion

Have I ever said it before? Some video of all four of the DLC cars in action for Burnout Paradise.

The more I see the more excited I get.

Alright, I know I’ve posted some video of Dawn of War II already and all, but I mean come on. After seeing this video I had to post it.

Any RTS/RPG (whatever you want to classify it as) that let’s some of your units trample through the level trashing things in the way and bashing through walls is good start to any game in my book. Add to that the Warhammer 40K universe and story, and I think we have an early running for the Game of the Year for this new year already.

Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! = )

Classic 2-D Games in 3-D

Some classic games re-imagined in 3-D, such as this Final Fantasy III battle scene:

Console peripherals sale

I just noticed that there’s a big sale going on over at Amazon.com in the Video Game section. It’s for console hardware and accessories.

It’s only 10%, but in terms of things like Microsoft and Wii Points (I think I might pick up this 4000 point card) it’s like free money.

It ends this Saturday.

In [Nat’s] Hands: Tom Clancy’s EndWar

While it may have received average “professional reviews” I came across this title today at Target for $50. Yes, the bluetooth bundle for almost half off. (A little known secret: After Christmas they take a couple titles–many of them AAA–and mark them way down. I missed Fallout 3 by a day.) Considering, they were selling the non-headset versions for the same price, I figured I’d get the bundle.

endwar

I love gift cards.
