Welcome to the first Weekend Gamer of 2010! This should be a great weekend for everyone. This afternoon is the Granddaddy of them All, the Rose Bowl with my Ohio State Buckeyes against the Oregon Ducks. Afterwards I’m hoping for a big weekend of gaming. I’ve got three new FPSes: Left 4 Dead 2, Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2. I’ve had a little time with all three, so I’m not ready to make any judgements of which is the best, but I’m looking forward to playing all three.
I’m also looking forward to kicking off out “Fun Game of the Year” posts for 2009. We’ve got all the bases covered and these posts should be going live soon. We hope you enjoy them and add your own additions to our lists.
So what will you be playing this weekend? What are you looking forward to in 2010?

My weekend will be dominated by the 360 version of Dragon Age: Origins. Despite the game’s many one-sided, totally unfair fights that reward multiple playthroughs and memorization instead of sound tactics, I find myself enjoying it.
As for 2010, I’m looking forward to Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, Halo Reach and Crackdown 2. I will get Resident Evil 5’s DLC missions when my wife returns from deployment (she and I played through that game three times and had started our fourth playthrough on Professional difficulty). I’ll also be getting Army of Two: The 40th Day just because my wife and I greatly enjoyed the previous game in the series.

Well, I just finished up Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on the Wii a couple of hours ago and it has one of the best endings in recent memory… Now I think I’ll cleanse my palate with some Spirit Tracks!
