In [Nat’s] Hands: New Super Mario Bros. Wii & Assassin’s Creed II

November 17, 2009 by Nat 1 Comment

One game is a Christmas gift so I may not get to play it until then (and has absolutely the worst name Nintendo has ever come up with) and the other is the only game I anticipated this year.

Oh, and Star Trek on Blu-Ray. This will be a first viewing for the missus. I wonder what her take on it will be.

In My Hands – NSMB Wii & Friends

November 15, 2009 by Brock 1 Comment

Dragon Age NSMB

NSMB Wii is awesome, even with a clumsy 5-year old in tow. I’m really enjoying the world of Dragon Age so I figure it’s time to dig into some of the history and lore of the game via the books.

WOOHOO! It’s the weekend! What are you playing?

Me: Forza 3, Torchlight and maybe Halo Wars. Or Borderlands. Or both.

Curse You, Steam!

November 12, 2009 by Nat 5 Comments

Valve got me to spend ~$30 today with their weekend deal and another surprise discount. You can get the Crysis games for 50% off (I got the first one) and the entire Overlord collection at 75% off—including the newly released this year sequel—for $10. Ten! Overlord is one of my surprise games I’ve found in recent years to be completely underrated. It’s also evil that Steam stores your credit card info now.

Cheap game of the moment

November 4, 2009 by Jason O 2 Comments

Obviously I have been slack in getting these out. With the passing of my father, a new job, and even a shift in job responsibilities since starting my time has simply been too constrained. I will continue to report on budget titles as often as I can, but a weekly commitment is simply too much at this point.

What did you dress as for Halloween?

November 1, 2009 by Will 6 Comments

Chill Penguin as an ODST
I didn’t dress up for Halloween, but my Xbox Avatar did.

The ODST armor is courtesy of Halo Waypoint, which was released this weekend for those in the Preview Program. I was awarded nine Halo-related pieces of Avatar clothing for my various Halo-related achievements! I’m one of the few people who think that it is okay to spend real money on virtual clothing, but not too much; 80 MSP is a fair price for a shirt, but 400 MSP for a light saber is just too much.

I did think about buying that light saber though. Just for a second.

In my digital hands

torchlight

Based on Nat’s mention and Bill Harris’ diaries I picked up Torchlight sight-unseen. I also woke up this morning about two hours earlier than I normally do when nature called and I seriously considered foregoing those two hours of sleep to play Torchlight. I chose sleep this morning, but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to hold out.

Twenty Four Hours?

October 26, 2009 by Will 1 Comment

I turned on my Wii for the first time in forever today. I messed around with the Nintendo Channel and learned that the Wii has been keeping track of all the gaming I’ve done on that console! Wii Fit is my most played game (47 hours) and The Twilight Princess is the runner up (24 hours). How did I pour that much time into Zelda and then just quit playing?
