April Releases

March 31, 2010 by Tony 15 Comments

It’s that time again, time for the long list of monthly releases. April is anemic. Splinter Cell and Monster Hunter Tri and… Let’s Garden? Not much to get excited about this month.

Borderlands Double Game Add-On Pack: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned / Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot

Week of April 12
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction– Normally I’d call this a Day One Purchase but with my new Gamefly Day One Rental (and then purchase) Trick. I cannot wait for this game.

Week of April 19

NIER– This game win this month’s worst name and best boxart. I have no idea what this game is, but I’m intrigued.

Hooray for a month where I probably won’t buy ANYTHING.

I have heard good things about Conviction but for some reason or another I’m just not excited about it. I hope it’s great and I’ll pick it up later in the year. Other than that, I might… MIGHT… grab Monster Hunter Tri if only to have a proper online experience with the game. I love the PSP versions but hate the gimped online play.

But those are about the only games even remotely on my radar and I’m not really planning on getting either. I am still trying to dig myself out of the March deluge.

“gimped onlin play” describes pretty much everything Nintendo has done thus far, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high.

Trust me… It’s almost impossible to make a multiplayer-focused game less usable than the original PSP versions of Monster Hunter. I’ve heard that Tri actually has some good pick-up group play that doesn’t require friend codes up the wazoo. I’m not going to run out and buy Tri day one or anything, but I’m definately going to keep my eyes on it. I just wish they had online play for the PSP version native to the software rather than forcing us to find ways to trick the system.

Pirates of Plundarrr? Laziest marketing department EVAR!

NIER looks like just another God of War rip-off, and a pretty dull one at that. Saw a trailer for it some months ago. Unimpressed.

The “good news” is that I’m flooded with games I’ve barely touched and with Gamestop’s recent 50% sale I now have Prototype and Fuel to keep my busy. I won’t mention the rest of my pile of shame as it is extra shameful right now.

Same here. I’m almost finished with Mass Effect 2, which will promptly be replaced by Conviction. Everything else just flounders in waiting.

I’m actually working on Fragile and Final Fantasy XIII, along with a pile of DS games. I’m good for now 🙂

This brings up a good point. Should we start adding iPod releases to this list? Also, what about XBLA, Wii and DS Ware and PSN/PSP Go downloadable? Man, that could be a whole separate post.

That will be tough because most releases are day to day.

Well, Again finally was released up here, so I’ll count that as my one April release. I picked up 3 other games too, but all together it was $100 for 4 games, which is a great deal as far as I’m concerned!

A horrible name for a game. Do a google search for it or try and describe it to someone.

Haha. Funny. Silly Japanese. People will buy it on name alone.

        What would it’s sequel be?

I know, right? Not the best name they could have gone with. But it did get your attention, so maybe it was a good choice for a name?
