March looks fairly loaded with new games. What’s on your wishlist? Is the recession going to affect your purchases?
Brock says
February actually surprised me with the number of games I ended up getting, though most of them were ‘purchased’ using store credit and trades.
I really want to play Lux Pain. Aside from that, I wouldn’t mind trying Sacred 2, HAWX and Halo Wars and RE5, but there’s no way I’m actually buying them. I’m also curious to hear if The Last Remnant works better or worse on the PS3 and PC. I have the 360 version and it’s not perfect, but the biggest issue is the texture loading.
Nice to see that even Tony has rethought his purchase of RE5. I wasn’t excited about it and then I played the demo, which cooled what little interest I had in the game. I do hope the final retail version is a lot better than that demo led me to believe, but man…
Nat says
I’ve shared this with many people so why not here. I purchased more games in Jan/Feb than I did in Oct/Nov.
Only one of those titles was a $60 title. I like it, but I don’t think I’ll do that again for a while. I have had more fun in the last six to nine months playing cheap, unique games more than the AAA premium titles.
Steam discounts are working for them big time—at least in regards to me as well.
This months releases:
Tony says
@Brock – I’m worried about RE5 disappointing me because it’s not RE4. I don’t want to sully those memories of RE4 with a bad experience.
That being said, if RE5 turns out to be RE4 with prettier graphics and a fairly interesting storyline, I’ll give it a shot.
Heck, if I can play as HUNK in a mercenaries-like game, I may be sold on it.
Jason O says
Well, if you don’t mind, here’s my rundown on February.
Halo Wars – I get the hype because it’s Halo, but it’s RTS. So no interest. RTS on console, which makes it even less interesting.
Tom Clancy’s HAWX – I played the demo and hated it. This special mode, I can’t remember what it’s called, makes dogfighting look cooler but it’s hard as hell to tell what is going on. The cinematic view is very nifty and all, but it felt even less like a simulator than the Ace Combat series. A lot of the time I just wanted to switch to the cockpit view but the demo wouldn’t let me. Solid “No”.
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 – I just picked up the first one for $10. It’s Dynasty Warriors with a Gundam theme. I’m not sure how they are up to 6, plus expansions, on the regular series. They all feel the same to me. I have yet to play one that is really all that different from Dynasty Warriors 2 on the PS2, which was my entrance to the series.
Guitar Hero Metallica – Nope. If I learned one thing from Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is that the one band focused releases are just too limited. I like Aerosmith so it was worth it, but I wish they’d just release some DLC for World Tour instead. I think this will be a huge swing and a miss.
Highlander – The hell?
Sonic and the Black Knight – Just. Let. It. Die.
MadWorld- Ok, this looks cool but I am trying to transition the kids off the 360 and onto the Wii entirely. So if I pick up this title that is going to cause some controversy with the kids. I may have to pass on it for that alone, which is too bad because I am truly interested!
Nat says
That’s interesting. We’re actually trying to transition from the Wii60 to the PS3.
Something about having too many things to play.
