In [Nat’s] Hands: G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra

August 17, 2009 by Nat 3 Comments

I’ve heard from everyone that the movie is a blast. However, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has not been getting favorable reviews on the major consoles. It’s in my hands now. Expect a 2 Minute Review by the end of the week.

You poor man. Better you than me, if the reviews I’ve read/watched are any indication.

The movie was a hoot though… unless you were expecting some kind of actual adherence to the old toys/cartoons.

Here’s the thing. The “professional reviewers” are approaching the game and ripping it up as if it were an AAA title.

That’s rightly so, because it’s being sold at the AAA premium price.

If this game was on XBLA and say $30 cheaper it would be a hit.

I’ve done the first section and I’ve had a lot of fun. The same way people approach the movie for enjoyment is the same way for the game.

It’s just a nonsensical hoot. I’ve also not found myself to be frustrated. Annoyed, yes. but not frustrated.

I watched the review on Gametrailers, which is the only time I actually watch video reviews (I prefer to read because I was born in the Stone Age)

The game itself looked like it had some potential, but it’s not a $50 title. I’m waiting for the inevitable price drop, but being a movie tie-in I’m predicting it will take longer than normal.
