I’m thinking of picking up Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 today. I was just planning on trading in some old games that I don’t play anymore to get it. Now, I already have plenty of games to play (can you ever have too many? I say yes, but that will be for another post) and yet I feel like I should pick this game up.
1) I loved the first game in the series (No, I will not marry it Tony.) and I even bought the superhero/villian DLC for it.
2) The graphics look amazing, especially when compared with the first game.
Oh and I need to add that Deadpool looked awesome in this video clip. The animation is fluid and looks really good.
3) FUSION! HAAAaaa…wait wrong universe.
The fusions seem like they are crazy powerful. However, I’ve heard there are some fusion moves that are very simple. The best description of those that I’ve read comes from ign.com, “Meanwhile, a guided fusion puts you in the driver’s seat as you run around clearing clocks — like when Wolverine and Captain America run around side by side mowing bad guys down. With the exception of the jogging attacks like that Cap/Wolvie one, Fusions are pretty cool.”
Now, most aren’t simple like that but they do add a more co-operative feel to the game. Having four people playing together and everyone combining differently to do powerful attacks seems like it would keep things fun.
I’ve read the game is only about 10.5 hrs to complete, but I don’t even remember how many times I’ve played through the first one. I don’t think the game length with be a problem. There is also the new conversations where you chose your response from either aggressive, diplomatic, or defensive. They all happen with an emotionless face of your character as the backdrop. That doesn’t deter me from getting the game, but if it happens every time there is dialogue then it might old real quick.
I’m actually leaning towards getting this(if you couldn’t tell). I would just like to see what the rest of you think about it. Leave a comment.

If you loved the first one (or the X-men series, etc), I can’t imagine you wouldn’t enjoy this one. Very much with slightly different mechanics and much improved graphics.
Fusions are fun although any in the same “group” are pretty similar. The guided ones are kinda silly, honestly, but watching Wolvie dash through a batch of telekinetically bound baddies is pretty satisfying.
Can’t speak to the length, as we’re not done yet and I don’t know how far we have left. But there is more branching, and there’s always the simulators and unlocking.

If you are looking for an objective answer, I’m one of the worst people to ask. I always lean toward “get it” when it comes to games. If you show the slightest bit of interest, and you can justify the cost, then why not, right?
The first MUA was a really fun game. The only real beef I had with it was that two people on one 360 could not join any games over LIVE. It had to be one person per console. I hear that this sequel fixes that issue; I’d buy it just because of that.
Does the game really look like that when it runs? Can you see all that detail when the camera is pulled by so far, like in the previous one?

I’m guessing that the game does not look like the screenshots in-game. At least not as far back as I will take the camera in order to see everything while I’m playing.
However, the better capability to play co-op is definitely a plus. I’m looking forward to playing it online with some random people(hoping someone here on the site get’s it too) and being a distinct character with my own moves that brings something to the table that the others in the group don’t, seems interesting.

I picked up the game the other day and what little I’ve played is pretty slick. The fusion powers are nifty and it looks great. I’m just waiting to finish up Batman before I truly dig into UA2 but if it’s half as good as the first game, I’ll be happy as a clam.
And maybe this time I’ll be able to get a party that is completely comprised of Deadpools 🙂

I picked it up and so far I can say I am not disappointed.
I just need to find the time to play it. I also need some people to play with too. 😉
