January Releases

January 4, 2010 by Tony 6 Comments

It’s the new year and what a year it’s going to be for gaming! The excitement starts this month and hopefully the momentum carries us through the year. Let’s get to the list:

Xbox 360 banner

Week of January 4th
Bayonetta– I’m torn on Bayonetta. On one hand, it looks beautiful and wicked stylish. On the other hand, I’ve never gotten into the stylized-action-game like Devil May Cry or God of War. Maybe it’s time to try.
Darksiders– In a month loaded with triple-A titles, I’m worried I’ll never get around to playing this, but I am definitely intrigued.
Divinity II: Ego Draconis– I didn’t even know there was a Divinity I. Anyone have any info on this game?

Week of January 11th
Vancouver 2010 – The Official Video Game of the Olympic Winter Games– Gotta fit this game in somewhere I guess.
Army of Two: The 40th Day– Another one I’ll probably end up passing, but I wonder what I’ll be missing.

Week of January 18th
Dark Void

Week of January 25th
Mass Effect 2– There it is. This should do just fine to tide me over for quite some time. At least until February. I hope it doesn’t take me two years to finish this one.

Quad Kings
Personal Fitness Women
Legend of Kay

I added Dark Void to my Gamefly queue.

With all the Steam deals, Amazon holiday discounts, and the last of my gift cards I am game-purchased out.

It’s neat to see a lot of AAA games released in Jan/Feb but by having most of these games pushed back it may have hurt sales (at least on my perspective).

My stack is so high–maybe the highest it’s ever been. I have some 2008 games that I’m working on.

My personal hall of shame is no less than 23 titles, which doesn’t even include games I am actively playing but could be considered “finished” with.

Yeah, I want Mass Effect 2, but I can wait at this point.

I thought the demo for Army of Two: 40th Day was terrible. I really thought the first game was just fine when it hit $20 but I couldn’t imagine paying full price for it and I’m wondering if the sequel is even going to be worth bothering with at all.

I have my eyes firmly set on Mass Effect 2 and Army of Two, although I will be waiting until my wife’s deployment ends before getting the latter title. We enjoyed the first one a great deal. I haven’t tried the demo because I can’t find anyone to play it with me.

I like Bayonetta’s style a great deal as well, but the problem is that it plays a lot like Devil May Cry, which I really didn’t like.

The only game I’m buying is Mass Effect 2. Now to decide which version to get… the 360 or Steam version…

I would like to try Dark Void, Bayonetta and Darksiders but they are rentals or discount purchases sometime in the far-flung future. I’ve got enough on my plate in the action arena for now.

And where did the PSP version of Shadow Of Destiny come from?! It will be mine… sometime later. I adore that game on the PS2 and if they tidied it up a bit as a PSP port, I’d be in heaven.

Did you play the first ME? I’m still not sure how it will affect it, but there will be some carryover from your character from the first game.

Yeah, I beat the first one on 360 but I have a good enough computer to run the second one very well. Plus I can get the CE of the second Mass Effect for a good $10 cheaper than the 360 version if I go that route. I do have the first ME on Steam but I have other games I’d rather play through at the moment.
