I’ve harped about this before, and it’s one of the few games released earlier this year that I continue to play. Defense Grid is coming out on XBLA next week for $10. This is a must-buy.
In [Nat’s] Hands: Batman Arkham Asylum
I’ll keep this short. After only two hours of play. Batman Arkham Asylum is my GOTY 2009. I don’t know of many other titles that are coming up that may pass this. (Assassin’s Creed 2?)
Everybody loves donuts!
Everybody loves donuts! I knew before I even fired my first shot that Shadow Complex would be a game I would purchase today. Mmm. Donuts! Vroom Vroom CRASH! Auuuggh.(This post would not be as confusing if you are remotely aware of some of the latest XBLA offerings).
In [Nat’s] Hands: G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra
I’ve heard from everyone that the movie is a blast. However, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra has not been getting favorable reviews on the major consoles. It’s in my hands now. Expect a 2 Minute Review by the end of the week.
Wii MotionPlus is A…Plus
On a whim last week, we purchased Wii Sports Resort and an extra Wii MotionPlus controller. Due to some family commitments, we didn’t crack it open until this last Tuesday.
Our Wii has not been off since.
I don’t know how Nintendo did it, but they have definitely improved on the control scheme of the device. Almost every game in the title is excellent and fun to play. Two of the biggest hits have been the airplane and sword fighting games.
LucasArts, Nintendo beat you. They beat you bad. It’s a shame, because you have the property for it. At any rate, it made me look forward to this game:
I didn’t play the first, but apparently it deals with guns and swords. If Ubisoft can translate the controls well, it’ll be a blast. The cell-shaded style is a plus in my book. Look for Red Steel 2 in 2010 I believe.
[20 Minute Review] inFAMOUS

No, the title is not a typo. We’ve got a 20 minute review of inFAMOUS for you.
Brock and I both played through the game, one as good and the other as evil. Our initial goal was to have a special 4 Minute Review where we each took turns writing about the game. The more and more we discussed it, the more we began to realize that almost every aspect of the game flows into the narrative somehow.
We decided to get on Skype and make a rough recording and see what we came up with. So we present a 20+ minute conversation about inFAMOUS and we give our 2MRs at the end. Realize, that this is a rough cut. The only audio post-processing I did was leveling it.
Let us know your thoughts about the game after giving it a listen (which you can do online or download).

Dawn of War II on ‘Da Cheap
So far, Dawn of War II is my PC Game of the Year. You can enjoy it this weekend for $25 from Steam (I should be getting paid by Valve.) The Company of Heroes games are discounted too.
Love Me Some Space Invaders—iPhone Style
Wees talked before about how much wees loveses the Space Invaders around here. Apparently there’s a new version for the iPhone ($4.99!) called Space Invaders Infinity Gene (It’s been getting crazy butt-funk reviews). Apparently you start the game in the classic mode and it evolves into a quasi-shmup. Go to youtube for the trailer or see our comments for the video. (RSS readers may have the video embedded.)
Kings Bounty On ‘Da Cheap
A game that I play on my laptop almost weekly is King’s Bounty. If I had played it in 2008, it would have been my FGOTY. (I’ve not said much about it because I’ve not completed it.) At any rate, more people should play it. Steam is selling it at 50% off for $15. You are stealing it.—Oh, and Steam added the Kings Quest and Space Quest games today.
Curse You, Microsoft
Curse you, Microsoft, your crappy UI design, and that piece of junk called a dashboard. I loathe your ten step click and move process to do anything. My son and I booted up the 360 to play a little LEGO Indy co-op and by a combination of button presses on both controllers, we just purchased ‘Splosion Man. There goes my Fallout 3 DLC. This arcade game had better be good. (Just another in a long line of reasons I cannot wait for our 360 to bite it.)
